In November 2011 I made way to Arcade Empire in Pretoria to catch The Black Cat Bones, The Smoking Mojos and Aidan Martin live at a show that I think was named “The Gunpowder Plot” (which was a reference to Guy Fawkes).

    More Info About Arcade Empire

Arcade Empire was a live music venue which opened in 2011. The first location was at the old Foundry Fly Lounge (on Solomon Mahlangu Drive) and the second location was 265 The Highway Street (accross the road from the Grove Shopping Mall).

Sadly this venue closed their doors a few years ago, but for more than half a decade this was one of the go to venues at the 012.

I snapped this photo of Kobus De Kock Jr. (the late lead singer of The Black Cat Bones) during their set and it has been selected as the Photo Of The Week on SA Music Zone.

Kobus De Kock Jr. died last year and is greatly missed. The band’s new lead singer is Gareth Wilson (who you might know from Southern Gysey Queen).
