In March 2023 I made my way to Sowaar Bar to catch Worsie Van Wyk live for the first time. In case you did not know, Worsie is an up-and-coming South African Afrikaans Metal artist that has been making waves in the industry over the last couple of years.

    More info about Sowaar Bar

This live music venue / bar / restaurant is located in the Atterbury Boulevard Centre on Atterbury Road in Faerie Glen, Pretoria. Sowaar Bar opened in 2021 and is a popular hangout with SA music lovers and punters who love playing quiz.

More info about Worsie Van Wyk

Worsie van Wyk, despite what the name sounds like, is an Afrikaans metal singer, with an in-your-face sound that would make Dave Mustaine of Megadeth recite a lesson. And yet, between the screaming voice and distorted guitar, are lyrics that are wholesome enough to even be played on RSG. I mean, the oke even does a legit metal cover of “Baby Tjoklits”.

Check out the photo that I snapped of Worsie Van Wyk at Sowaar Bar in March 2023 below. This is your photo of the week on SA Music Zone.
