In case you did not know, I made my way to 20 Oppikoppi festivals (including Easter festivals) between 1998 and 2018. I think that it’s safe to say that it was one of my favourite music festivals.
In August 2014 I made my way to Oppikoppi Odyssey
More than 20 000 people made their way to the festival that year to enjoy an epic line-up of bands. That year international headliners Wolfmother and Rival Sons were on the line-up and there were also quite a few sets by legendary South African bands like Springbok Nude Girls, Squeal and Wonderboom.
I spend quite a bit of time in the Top Bar that year and the atmosphere was moerse lekker. The barman had their hands full with patrons drinking way more than they should be under normal circumstances. They put up this gorgeous sign to lay down some rules…
