The Black Cat Bones played a lekker set at Bos Boogie 2023 and I was there to experience it. This music festival was hosted on a plot near Roodeplaat (on the outskirts of Pretoria) on the weekend of the 25th of August and it was a lot of fun.
More info about The Black Cat Bones
The Black Cat Bones have been around since 2007 and they are one of my favourite South African rock bands. They are one of the hardest working bands in the country and they’ve played at almost every music festival that Mzansi has to offer.
My memory is a little blurry, but I think that the first time I experienced the Bones was at STRAB Music Festival in Mozambique in 2009. I’ve watched them go from strength to strength over the years, especially when they started kicking things into second gear from 2011 onwards.
I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve seen them live (which is probably more than 50), but they’ve never disappointed me with a live set.
And this was the case with their set at Bos Boogie 2023! They were the second last act on the Saturday night at the festival and they ignited the crowd’s mood and it was just what the doctor ordered!
Before their set everyone attending the festival was trying to dodge the weird cold front that was passing through the area. One could say that The Black Cat Bones warmed our hearts and our bodies.
I snapped this photo during their set and it has been selected as the Photo Of The Week on SA Music Zone
