A while ago I made my way to 20 Jaar Van Vuur Speel at Loftus Versfeld’s D-field in Pretoria. It was a HOT fun-filled day in the capital city and a great way to celebrate Fokofpolisiekar‘s 20th Birthday.
Here’s a quick review of 20 Jaar Van Vuur SpeelÂ
Koos Kombuis started off the day’s proceedings at 12 noon and before you could say “Paranoia” I had an ice cold beer in my hand. The temperature hit 37 degrees in the capital city on the day and most people tried their best to stay out of the sun – This didn’t stop anyone from drinking a lot of beer though 😀
Next up were SA Rock legends aKING. They played a lekker set and had the crowd singing along to classics like “The Dance” and “Safe as Houses” in no time. Their set was followed up by a kick-ass set by BEAST. It was the first time in about 7 years that I saw them and I have to say that I still think they’re one of best rock bands in the country.
After BEAST it was time for Punk Rock legends Fuzigish. These legends did not disappoint. They had the crowd rocking out and moshing to their upbeat music in no-time. After them it was time for SA Rock Legends Springbok Nude Girls. Everyone born before the 1990s got all nostalgic and rocked out to this amazing band (that still lives up to expectations).
Around 5 PM it was time for the birthday boys Fokofpolisiekar to start their set and from the get-go they did not disappoint. Die bende pulled off one hell of a show at 20 Jaar Van Vuur Speel. They played a mixed bagged of new, newish and old classics – must to the sunburnt crowd’s delight.
I snapped this photo of the crowd and Fokofpolisiekar while the sun was setting. This photo has been selected as this week’s photo of the week.
If you enjoyed 20 Jaar Van Vuur Speel you should take note of Halloween 2023 (happening on the 28th of October 2023) at the same venue.
