Koos Kombuis was one of the artists who performed 20 Jaar Van Vuur Speel (Fokofpolisiekar‘s 20th birthday party) on the D-field at Loftus Versfeld (on the 7th of October 2023).
The event (which was held on one of the hottest days in Pretoria of 2023) also featured performances by aKING, BEAST, Fuzigish, Springbok Nude Girls and Fokofpolisiekar.

Koos Kombuis, a renowned South African musician, singer, songwriter, and writer, gained fame as a member of a rebellious cohort of Afrikaans musicians known collectively as Voëlvry.
This group, whose name translates to “Free as a bird” in English (with “voëlvry” in Afrikaans also carrying connotations of “fugitive” and “outlaw”), embarked on a series of campus tours across South Africa during the 1980s. Their mission was to “liberate Afrikaans from the shackles of its past.”
