On ‘We Need To Talk’, Jamie-Lee goes back to basics. This simple, yet meticulously crafted, pop song is powerfully driven by Jamie-Lee Sexton’s signature voice that commands attention from the start.
The song was inspired by a powerful heart-to-heart Jamie had with herself. “Lyrically, the song is about a conversation between two characters expressing their deepest feelings, needs, fears and desires,” Jamie explains. “But for me, the words are a conversation with my past and my future self. Everyone has sent or received a ‘We Need To Talk’ text and I hope everyone sees their story in this song.

Produced by the talented and creative Daniel Baron, the song’s experimental guitar and provocative clap-driven, heart-thumping beats bring everything together. As multiple explosive melodic hooks are revealed, the track is set to keep listeners hooked until the very last note.

Jamie-Lee Sexton explains
“Driving around in the car is a time I keep for myself to reflect and go over my thoughts. I do this daily, when driving to meetings, studio etc, I sing out loud, think out loud and use this time to test all my musical and everyday ideas,” “It’s the time I get to spend with me. I wanted to add this visual representation into the video because I know plenty of people out there can relate.”
“After watching the music video, I hope viewers feel liberated and free after reminiscing on difficult conversations they might have had in the past. The song, and what we did with the music video, is a celebration and expression of empowerment and a metaphor for moving forward in life.”
