Jamie-Lee Sexton returns with her brand-new new single titled ‘We Need To Talk’. It’s hot off the heels of her catchy pop hit ‘It’s True’, which is currently charting on multiple radio stations across the country,  The song serves as the second release off the star’s upcoming EP ‘Medicine Woman’ which is set to release later this year.

More info about “We Need To Talk”

On ‘We Need To Talk’, Jamie-Lee goes back to basics. This simple, yet meticulously crafted, pop song is powerfully driven by Jamie-Lee Sexton’s signature voice that commands attention from the start.

The song was inspired by a powerful heart-to-heart Jamie had with herself. “Lyrically, the song is about a conversation between two characters expressing their deepest feelings, needs, fears and desires,” Jamie explains. “But for me, the words are a conversation with my past and my future self. Everyone has sent or received a ‘We Need To Talk’ text and I hope everyone sees their story in this song.

Jamie-Lee Sexton - We Need To TalkJamie-Lee wears her heart on her sleeve weaving in her raw and heartfelt lyrics and emotional, yet unapologetic, vocal delivery to create something that is bound to tug at the heart strings of listeners.

Always been one to push her creative boundaries, Jamie-Lee Sexton steps outside of her comfort zone when it comes to the sonic direction she has taken on the track.

Produced by the talented and creative Daniel Baron, the song’s experimental guitar and provocative clap-driven, heart-thumping beats bring everything together. As multiple explosive melodic hooks are revealed, the track is set to keep listeners hooked until the very last note.

Jamie-Lee Sexton comments on “We Need To Talk”

“We set out to make a beat with real organic sounds and I wanted that beat to be felt right in the chest, the same way I felt when I was writing the song.”

A multi-faceted artist, Jamie-Lee Sexton plays an array of instruments. On the track, she specifically focuses on creating unique sounds on guitar , as she continues to showcase what an exceptional musician she is.

Jamie-Lee has also released the music video for the song. In the beautifully shot clip, directed by Studio Chapters, objects like the house and car used in the video all touch on the idea of seeing part of one’s past in the future.

Storywise, the characters in the video each provide a representation of some iconic ‘we need to talk’ moments – including scenarios with one’s partner, mother and even oneself.

    Jamie-Lee Sexton explains

“Driving around in the car is a time I keep for myself to reflect and go over my thoughts. I do this daily, when driving to meetings, studio etc, I sing out loud, think out loud and use this time to test all my musical and everyday ideas,” “It’s the time I get to spend with me. I wanted to add this visual representation into the video because I know plenty of people out there can relate.”

“After watching the music video, I hope viewers feel liberated and free after reminiscing on difficult conversations they might have had in the past. The song, and what we did with the music video, is a celebration and expression of empowerment and a metaphor for moving forward in life.”
