Jamie-Lee Sexton, originally from Magaliesburg near Johannesburg, began her musical journey at age 4. Her talent blossomed through childhood, fueled by her passion for music and drama. After studying live performance at AFDA, she ventured into acting and music, earning accolades and exploring diverse genres.
Entering Idols in 2010, she reached the Top 8, showcasing her multifaceted talents. Collaborating with DJ Parkah, she formed Audiophreniq, blending afro house, soul, and hip-hop. Later, founding The Sextons, Jamie-Lee became a fixture at music festivals across South Africa and Africa.
In 2017, she rebranded as a solo artist, focusing on songwriting and releasing her debut single “Magic,” produced by Crighton Goodwill. Her subsequent EP “Medicine Woman,” released in 2022, topped Apple Music charts with its blend of catchy melodies and 80s/90s pop influences.
Jamie-Lee’s raspy vocals and skillful songwriting earned her nominations for Pop Artist and Songwriter of the Year at the Basadi in Music Awards 2022. Currently working on new music, she promises an album that stays true to her signature sound while exploring fresh narratives and musical landscapes.
