Sol Azure, the electronic duo formed by South African artists and producers Mikhaela Faye (also known as LUFS) and Dolf Willemse, have officially launched their debut single, “Indigo (with LUFS)”.
The textured and immersive track sets the tone for their fresh sonic identity and marks the beginning of a collaborative journey rooted in emotional resonance and creative freedom.
A Shared Vision
“We’ve both worked in music for several years—as vocalists, composers, and producers,” they shared. “Our intention with Sol Azure is to explore new sonic territory and introduce a sound that feels emotionally resonant and creatively free.”
Their partnership came naturally, forged through a shared musical background. “We both come from musical households,” they explain. “Mikhaela grew up in Cape Town and studied jazz and composition.
Dolf is from Potchefstroom and began experimenting with production from a young age. Music has always been a central part of our lives—not just a career path but a means of processing and expressing the world around us.”
Crafting “Indigo”
“Indigo” began with a manipulated classical piano sample and quickly evolved into something deeply personal. “The stuttered chords had a distinct emotional tone, which felt indigo in colour—reflective, calm, and open,” shares Sol Azure. “Lyrically, it became a meditation on letting go of the past and feeling freely, without fear or judgment.”
As part of their debut, the duo also released a second track, “Amara”, unveiling a fuller glimpse into their artistic direction.
The track is available on all major streaming platforms, stream it HERE.
What’s Next
Though new as Sol Azure, both members are seasoned collaborators in the South African music scene, having worked with artists such as Tresor, Francois Van Coke, and Celine Tshika. With EPs and more collaborations planned, the duo is set to further develop their cinematic, emotionally grounded sound in the months ahead.
