Cape Town’s genre-defying rock outfit, We Kill Cowboys, released their blistering new single, “Dead End” on the 4th of April 2025. This track will be on their highly anticipated EP, Back From The Dead.
Known for their electrifying fusion of punk, grunge, and post-hardcore, the band continues to push musical boundaries with raw intensity and fearless storytelling.
We Kill Cowboys has a Heavier, More Intense Sound
Fronted by Alex Muller, a renowned tattoo artist and singer-songwriter, We Kill Cowboys are no strangers to powerful, thought-provoking narratives. With Alex now solely commanding the microphone, the band has taken a heavier direction, enlisting long-time friend and producer Floris Le Roux as a second guitarist.
His addition amplifies the sonic depth, perfectly complementing Mornay’s razor-sharp riffs, Andrew’s relentless drumming, and Miggs’ deep, fuzzy bass grooves that shake the core.
“Dead End” – A Hard-Hitting Anthem
“Dead End” is more than just a song—it’s a gut-punch of raw emotion and intense themes. Tackling the harrowing realities of abuse from both male and female perspectives, the track sheds light on trauma, escapism, and the desperate need for recognition and love.
“’Dead End’ is a powerful and poignant anthem that tackles the complex and deeply personal theme of abuse. With unflinching honesty, the song weaves together male and female perspectives, illuminating the darkest corners of trauma and the desperate quest for escapism. Beneath its driving rhythms and soaring vocals, ‘Dead End’ reveals a profound longing—to be seen, to be loved, and to find a way out of the darkness that can feel like a dead end.” – Alex Muller
Unapologetic and Unfiltered Live Performances

More info about the video for “Dead End”
The video for “Dead End” follows a protagonist haunted by a masked figure, chased through Cape Town’s gritty streets in an adrenaline-fueled escape that collides—literally—with the band and crew, culminating at the shoreline where reality and delusion blur in a powerful, unsettling ending.
The concept for the “Dead End” music video was developed by drummer Andrew Middelkoop, who envisioned a cinematic reflection of the song’s emotional core.
“The central concept revolves around trauma and escapism,” Andrew says. “It’s about running from your problems and constantly hitting dead ends. We wanted to visually capture that tension—there’s a moment of false calm in the middle, but it’s all in her head.”
