The Halloween 2023 event was hosted at Loftus Park in Pretoria on the 28th of October and I was there to snap some photo of bands, Springbok supporters (who were to watch the Rugby World Cup final) and people who dressed up for Halloween.
My 2 cents on Halloween 2023
I think it’s safe to say that a mixed batch of folks showed up for this year’s event (which has become somewhat of an annual Pretoria institution since 2011). The line-up featured Dune Rats (from Australia), Sunflowers (from Portugal) and a mixed batch of local bands (Painted Flowers, December Streets, The Man Motels, Van Pletzen and Die Heuwels Fantasties).
From the get-go the vibe was lekker and everyone was excited and in good spirits. All of the acts who performed on the day at Halloween 2023 brought their A-game (just like the Springboks did for their Rugby World Cup final game against the All Blacks).
It was nice of the organizers to show the Rugby World Cup final on two big screens. When the final whistle blew, the +/- 2500 people let out a wild cheer (something I’ve not experienced in a long time at the end of a rugby match).
I snapped this photo of the crowd at Halloween 2023 and it has been selected as the SA Music Zone Photo Of The Week.
Kudos to Rob, Tanje and everyone else who was involved in organizing this event. It was one for the books.
