Carla Franco, the hearing-impaired singer-songwriter reshaping the South African music landscape, returns with her most powerful release to date, “My Love”. This soul-stirring indie pop ballad is available to stream on all major streaming platforms.
Carla Franco: A Voice That Cuts Through Silence
Best known as the winner of Texx and The City’s Band Or Bust and a South African Music Award (SAMA) nominee, Carla Franco continues to challenge expectations with her fearless songwriting and emotionally resonant vocals.
“My Love” is a deeply personal farewell — an honest reflection on emotional labour, lost love, and reclaiming self-worth after giving too much to someone who couldn’t reciprocate.
“‘My Love’ is a goodbye letter wrapped in honesty. It’s the moment you realise that holding on is hurting more than letting go,” Carla shares. “Writing it was painful, but singing it now feels like reclaiming myself.”
With poignant lines like “I didn’t need that much / But the least has always been too much for you” and “I’d build you a home if it meant you wouldn’t linger in mine”, “My Love” captures the quiet devastation of trying to love someone emotionally unavailable — and the strength found in finally walking away.
The track was produced by Hendrik Joerges and features Franco’s guitarist Chad Jevon Skippers, who delivers a standout interlude in the post-chorus. Subtle indie pop production frames Franco’s uniquely expressive voice — delicate yet defiant — allowing every lyric to resonate.
“Being hearing-impaired has taught me to feel sound differently. I listen with my heart — and I think that’s why my music speaks to the quiet truths people don’t often say out loud,” Carla Franco explains.
Having steadily gained recognition with her past releases, “My Love” represents a defining chapter in Carla Franco’s evolving artistic journey — one that is sure to leave a lasting impression on both longtime fans and new listeners.
