Carla Franco comments
“In almost every conversation I have, public and private, related to music, you’ll hear me speaking about how South Africa and the world at large really does not comprehend the talent we have, and we often don’t provide platforms for artists who deserve it, The third drop highlights a lot of artists I respect deeply and are dear to my heart.”
Among the standout collaborations on Layers: Layer Three, fans can look forward to Carla Franco’s partnership with Leo Burg on “Bygones”, a song that originated from Leo’s own album. Lokaly, who serves as the bassist in Carla’s band, contributes his exceptional songwriting skills to “Sugar,” while the electrifying collaboration with Zebra on “Allow Me” promises to be a standout track.
Carla Franco also joined forces with Lungelo Moyo, whom she met at a local live music bar in Pretoria, for the soulful “The Wall.” Sebastian, the rhythmic guitarist for Carla’s band, co-created “Adults,” a song born out of a spontaneous idea during a rehearsal. Pala Chrome, a longstanding collaborator and producer for Carla’s work, teamed up with her under their artist alias for the mesmerizing “Uno.”
Carla Franco comments
“Layers is a statement beyond my own music; it’s a question to the industry at large: why aren’t we focusing on more local artists? Layers is truly a collaborative project that makes me proud to be a musician and proud to be South African.”
