More info about The Lebowski
The band was formed towards the end of 2016 with the releaseof three demo tracks recorded with Nic Dinnie from Desmond and the Tutus at Pop Filter studios. Since then the band has gone onto release two EPs, ‘Pretty Bland’ and ‘Super Low Nowhere’, as well as the single ‘Daddy’s Girl’.
The band worked with producer/engineer Jaco Naudé (who later joined the band full time on bass). The band has had five tracks playlisted on local radio in Pretoria (Tuks FM), as well as MFM and Mix 98.3 FM.
Currently the band just released 2 new singles (“Love Being Alive” and “Breathe My Air”) and more singles are on the way in 2023. They’re also looking forward to tour Cape Town again in the latter part of 2023 with long time collaborators The Man Motels.

Voted ‘Best Newcomer’ by the Pretoria far East hockey dad support club in 2018, the trio set out not to disappoint fans with their new releases. Exploring more compact and energetic writing with darker themes, this is their first releases since their 2020 singles “Sad Boy Punch Up” and “Heavy Glow”.
On the live side, The Lebowski has shared stages with South Africa’s indie royalty – opening for acts like Shortstraw, Desmond and the Tutus, Van Pletzen, The Black Cat Bones, Wolfgang Marrow and The Plastics. The band has also performed at some of the most iconic festivals around the country including Mieliepop (2017), Lush (2018), Misty Waters (2019) and Park Acoustics (2019).
The Lebowski loves to be part of the local Pretoria and Johannesburg music scene and can regularly be seen performing or hanging out at events and venues like Uncle Mothers, Bunk, Aandklas, Railways Cafe and Sowaar Bar and takes pride in fitting into the larger music scene in South Africa, both as a band and as fans.
