Remember the 1990’s? Remember the South African Music revolution that took place in that decade? If you do you probably remember SA pop rock sensation Amersham.
Amersham were formed when all its members were still in high school (attending Parktown Boys High). The 4 friends went on to become a household name in the South African music scene throughout the 90’s. They signed to BMG in 1993, releasing their 1st EP in 1994 . 3 singles were released from this which saw them charting throughout South Africa.
For the next 5 years Amersham headlined festivals, toured extensively in SA and released another 3 albums, their single “Matchbox” reached #1 on 5fm. By 1999 the band was looking for new direction and decided to go their separate way with most members settling down and having families.
Great news is that they are back! Amersham released two new singles last week. It’s their first new material in 17 years. They are recording new music and are looking forward to making their way onto a stage near you soon!
