Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems, discovered her passion for music at 17, inspired by artists like Aaliyah, Asa, and Frank Ocean. After earning two degrees, including one in economics from Monash University in South Africa, she left the corporate world to pursue music full-time.
Her debut single, Mr Rebel (2018), marked the beginning of a remarkable journey. Hits like “Try Me” and her unique fusion of Afrobeats, R&B, and neo-soul have garnered millions of streams and international acclaim. Tems describes her sound as deeply spiritual, a reflection of her innate connection to music.
