“The song is about someone struggling financially while ignoring the choices that led them there.” the duo shares.

Volume 1 marks the highly anticipated debut album from Perry & Blackwell, a project fueled by their shared love for music and their desire to create something uniquely their own.
“It’s been a few years since our previous band came to an end, but now we’re back, breathing new life into this new venture,” the duo explains.
Recorded over three years in their self-built Bunks Studio on a farm in the Midlands, the album is a true testament to their DIY spirit and unwavering dedication.
“We spent countless hours shaping these songs, recording them, and perfecting them. We couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve created,” they share.
The duo’s distinctive writing process draws on years of experience in riff-making and song structuring.
“After our previous band ended, we attempted to revive it, but it just wasn’t meant to be. That’s when Jon had the vision to move forward, writing and recording with complete artistic freedom. We’ve come full circle—from recording jam sessions on tape recorders in high school to crafting this album with professional gear,” they reflect.
Jon and Jake’s roots run deep in rock ‘n’ roll. Having been part of bands like Zipcode, High Trailer, Conform to None, and Minority for the Masses, they bring decades of experience playing stages across South Africa. With Volume 1, they open an exciting new chapter, honoring their musical heritage while boldly shaping their future.
