The globally acclaimed songwriting community, Song House, has officially made its mark in South Africa, spearheaded by the visionary efforts of local singer-songwriter Erin Elliot.
With a focus on fostering collaboration, creativity, and connection within the South African music industry, Erin has partnered with Song House to bring their innovative songwriting workshops and camps to local artists.
“What excites me most is creating a platform where South African artists and songwriters can truly shine,” Erin shares. “Being an artist here can feel isolating at times, with limited opportunities for global connection. My goal is to bridge that gap and cultivate a thriving community where creatives uplift and inspire one another.”
Originally established in Nashville, USA, Song House rose to fame with its viral “30 minutes to write a hook” videos, attracting over 1.4 million Instagram followers
Through collaborative songwriting sessions and camps, the platform has empowered countless artists, producers, and songwriters to create music that resonates worldwide.
Erin’s journey with Song House began during one of these camps, where its founder, Tyler, pitched the idea of introducing a small-scale project in South Africa.
“At the camp, Tyler approached me with the idea of doing something small in South Africa as a test,” Erin recalls. “After some reflection on balancing this with my business and music career, I decided to take the leap. I hosted my first one-day songwriting workshop, and the results were phenomenal. It became clear that this is something South Africa’s music industry not only needs but something I’m meant to be part of.”
Song House South Africa promises a unique experience unlike any other in the country. Each workshop features four 30-minute group songwriting sessions, culminating in live performances and recordings.
This dynamic format combines the thrill of fast-paced collaboration with opportunities to forge meaningful industry connections.
Erin Elliot is a familiar name in the music industry, known for her empowering pop-rock sound. Balancing life as a mom, business owner, and musician, Erin inspires others to embrace their multifaceted journeys.
Her latest single, “All I Want” released in November 2024, is a bold anthem delving into themes of body image and self-worth. Infused with the raw energy of early 2000s pop-punk and relatable lyrics, the track resonates deeply with audiences grappling with today’s culture of relentless comparison.
The future of Song House South Africa is bright, with multiple one-day workshops set for 2025 and a highly anticipated five-day camp at the end of the year. “This project is about more than just music; it’s about building each other up, working together, and creating something greater than ourselves,” says Erin Elliot.
