Following a series of popular releases in 2020, amassing 16 million streams and over 6 million hits on YouTube, Jeremy Loops returns with a stripped back version of his hit record “Postcards”.
“Postcards”, which became an instant hit in South Africa and is in the top 10 of SA radio’s all play chart, showcases Jeremy Loops’ distinctive vocals, flowing melodies, and sunshine-soaked hooks. Co-written by Jonathan Quarmby (Tom Walker) and produced by Cam Blackwood (George Ezra), the single’s inspiration draws from the unique relationship pressures of occupational travel and long distances.
This acoustic version breathes more, stripping away the original’s bounce, giving way to a beautuiful guitar lead that serves as a bedrock for the song’s striking lyrics. A completely redone recording, produced with Greg Abrahams, Postcards Acoustic puts the heart-wrenching message front and centre.
Jeremy Loops comments on the acoustic version of “Postcards”
“Postcards is about the ups and downs of relationships. This isn’t a sad song, it’s a song about acceptance and accepting that difficulties are often part of the journey to finding that solid connection. What’s wonderful about this acoustic version is we didn’t cheat the recording.”
“This isn’t a case of removing the bass, making drums more sparse, and playing the guitar slower. We really re-worked the whole thing, and as a result, I feel the song more differently. The urgency of the lyrics land even harder. And I hope this comes across to the listener too.”
