Rising star David Watkyns has released his highly anticipated third single, “Oh No! (This Could Be Love),” from his debut album No Other Love.
This track is a vibrant blend of 80’s synths, powerful brass solos, and catchy, chant-like vocals that transport listeners through an emotive journey of love and excitement.
Co-produced with the upcoming Kilian Wes, the song draws significant influence from iconic artists such as Peter Gabriel, New Radicals, and The 1975, encapsulating a narrative of a runaway lover caught between fear and the thrill of new love.
The accompanying music video, directed by the talented filmmaker Josh Hayman, showcases David performing while cruising along Cape Town’s breathtaking coastline in a vintage 1950’s Austin Healey sportscar.
This visual celebration of Cape Town’s stunning scenery adds an extra layer of charm and nostalgia to the track, further solidifying David’s unique artistic vision.

David Watkyns is a Cape Town-based singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, whose music is deeply influenced by legends like Peter Gabriel, Chet Baker, and Paul Simon.
With a musical journey that began at the tender age of seven, David honed his craft inspired by his musical family and the rich tapestry of sounds from his father’s vinyl collection. A graduate of Jazz Studies from the
Before embarking on his solo career, David gained recognition for his work with Arno Carstens and as a member of the rock supergroup Springbok Nude Girls, earning the Best Rock Album award at the South African Music Awards (SAMA) in 2022.
His extensive experience includes collaborations with notable artists such as Mike Rutherford, Zolani Mahola, and Judith Sephuma. David’s performances span continents, gracing stages at the Isle of Wight Festival, St Paul’s Cathedral, and Rocking the Daisies, among others.
His contributions to the music industry have been celebrated with the MELA Award for Youth Contribution to South African Music.
