Cape Town rockers Dangerfields have released their new single, “Harder”. The song started being created in 2020, inspired by a situation that one of the band members had been going through for some time which had been exacerbated by lockdown.
Dangerfields explain “Harder”
“‘Harder’ is a song about two people searching for the bravery to make the difficult decision to end a long term relationship when they both know that it will be best for them. Despite this they continue to hold on because of the memories of how it used to be.”
“Harder” was recorded across a few sessions between 2020 and 2022 at Lucas’s family home in Stellenbosch. The idea of inviting Lucas’s old friend Mandi Lizamore to contribute vocals came up in the first session, and after remotely recording a demo (Mandi lives on the other side of the country), the band decided that it had to be done, as her voice perfectly complemented the sound and emphasised the message of the song.]
The process was captured by filmmaker Barry De Villiers and has been edited into the Official Music Video for the song.
“Harder” sounds like Morrisey and the Pixies had an amazing love child. I am really loving this track and I am cross with myself because I have not seen this band live yet. I really hope that Dangerfields make their way up-country in the near future.
