To mark their 10 year anniversary 2014, the legendary South African rock band Taxi Violence released their fifth album, Tenfold. This lauded album garnered a 2015 SAMA nomination in the ‘Best Rock Album’ category. Since the album’s launch they have released music videos for Beaten by the Gun and Lazy Day. Now the guys are back with an enthralling and dreamlike music video for Stuck in a Rut.
More info about Taxi Violence
Taxi Violence have traveled a long and independent road to proving themselves as one of the best live acts in South Africa. Their sound can be described as blues-infused, retro rock with a pinch of sleaze and bourbon. Since their inception, Taxi Violence have gone on to rock every significant venue and headline every major festival in South Africa, as well as taking their unique brand of rock and quality live shows abroad.
The breath taking music video for “Stuck in a Rut” paints the angst of when you are tired of the norm, but fear change. The band says that the song is about “that feeling of not being able to get out of the deep groove you’ve worn into daily life. You are surrounded by people every day, yet you feel helpless and isolated. You are stuck in a rut. It’s time for a change.” The video was directed and edited by Craig Hunter Parker.
This is definitely one of the best music videos of 2016. I’m curious to see what they get to next. Hopefully there will be a new album before the end of the year, who knows? You can download this track for FREE for a limited time at this link.
You can catch Taxi Violence live at Innibos Festival on the 1st of July in Nelspruit, at Smugglers Pup in Johannesburg on the 2nd of July or at the Good Luck Bar in Johannesburg on the 3rd of July 2016.
