Becoming a member of the Grammy Recording Academy places Cara among an elite group of international music professionals and artists dedicated to promoting musical excellence. As a member, she’ll participate in the Grammy Awards process both as a voter and as an artist eligible for award consideration.

Cara expressed her gratitude, stating, “Being accepted into the Grammy Recording Academy is a profound honor. It validates my creative efforts and passion. I’m excited to collaborate with fellow members and contribute to the Academy’s mission of celebrating musical excellence.”

This achievement is particularly noteworthy for a South African artist, especially given the country’s growing impact on global music. South African genres like Amapiano are gaining worldwide popularity, with artists such as Black Coffee, Tyla, and Zakes Bantwini earning international acclaim.

Cara’s own collaborations, including work on Black Coffee’s SAMA-winning album “Pieces of Me,” and performances at major events like Coachella and Ultra Music Festival Miami, have solidified her reputation as a formidable artist.

Cara Frew’s recent projects include her 8-track acoustic album, “Candy Coloured Nightmare,” which showcases her gritty pop vocals and elevated acoustic rhythms

The album is being released progressively, with singles dropping every six weeks. Upcoming releases include “Pool Party” on August 30th, “Tide” on October 11th, and “Supernatural” on November 22nd.

The process of joining the Grammy Recording Academy was rigorous, especially for a South African artist. Cara Frew had to meticulously document her achievements, including radio play, major live performances, collaborations, and SAMA recognitions. She also secured recommendation letters from existing members. The application process took about six months to complete.

Reflecting on this achievement, Cara said, “This recognition is particularly meaningful to me as a South African. It acknowledges my creative standards and contributions to the music industry. Being part of the Recording Academy allows me to advocate for South African artists globally.”

Cara Frew draws inspiration from other successful South African artists who have made their mark internationally, including Trevor Noah, Charlize Theron, and Wouter Kellerman. Their accomplishments motivate her to continue pushing boundaries and growing as an artist, especially as a woman in the industry.

As Cara Frew enters this new phase of her career, she remains committed to innovating creatively, producing impactful music, and shaping the future of music both in South Africa and around the world.
