Pop sensation Ben Rodrigues is back with his latest single “Homesick,” and the release sets the stage for Rodrigues’ upcoming “Homesick” South African Tour this September, his first national run following a successful UK tour earlier this year.
Inspired by the nostalgic sounds of One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer, “Homesick” blends big pop energy with heartfelt emotion. It’s a sonic return to the music that raised Ben, while marking a turning point in his own story as he prepares to drop his debut album in early 2026.
“It’s the first song I’ve written for my girlfriend, Talisha,” says Ben. “It’s about our long-distance relationship, and that feeling of missing someone so deeply. For me, home isn’t a place, it’s her.”
Ben calls “Homesick” one of his favourite songs he’s ever written and his final big “pop” anthem before unveiling a deeper side of himself with the forthcoming debut album.
As with all of Ben’s work, “Homesick” was brought to life by his trusted creative trio: Ben Rodrigues, Aidin Nortje, and Devon Murray. From writing and production to performance, the three operate as a unit.
“We’re more than just colleagues, we’re best friends. I consider them my brothers,” Ben shares.
Releasing alongside the single is the official “Homesick” music video, directed by SAMA-winning filmmaker Abongwe Booi. Hilarious, honest, and packed with easter eggs, the video continues the One Night Only storyline fans glimpsed in Ben’s latest trailer.
In it, Ben Rodrigues plays a washed-up, scruffy version of himself: overweight, messy-haired, and in stained clothes, as he hilariously begins his “comeback.” It’s self-aware, deeply entertaining, and destined to be a fan favourite.
“This one’s just a blast to watch. Definitely a music video for the books,” says Ben.

More info about Ben Rodrigues
Hailing from the busy streets of Durban, raised in the quiet coastal town of St. Francis Bay, and now based in Cape Town, Ben Rodrigues is rewriting what it means to be an independent South African pop artist.
His 2023 breakout single “Was It Real” racked up over 20 million streams, spent three weeks at #1 on the South African Radio Charts, and exploded globally, earning Rodrigues a social media following of over 500,000 fans.
That momentum launched his sold-out debut tour and positioned him as the face of a new era in South African music. With influences like Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes, Rodrigues is proudly ushering in the return of the Pop Star Era — and with “Homesick,” he’s only just getting started.
“It’s not a matter of if I make it, but when,” says Ben. And right now? It’s looking like “when” is now.
