The Endler Concert Series at the Stellenbosch University Konservatorium proudly launches its second season from August to December 2025.
Continuing its tradition of musical excellence, this season highlights powerful collaborations, both international and intertertiary, and features a diverse range of vocal artistry. Here is a preview of what August to October holds in store.
Endler Concert Series 2025 Details
1 August 2025: The Chopin Project I: The Piano Concertos
Renowned pianist José Dias launches The Chopin Project I: The Piano Concertos alongside the Selene String Quartet and bassist Zanelle Britz, bringing audiences an intimate experience of Chopin’s masterpieces arranged for piano and string quintet. This innovative concert initiates a journey exploring and recording Chopin’s complete oeuvre.
3 August 2025: SU Chamber Choir Gala Concert
Conducted by Lunathi Ncamani and Martin Berger, the SU Chamber Choir presents its much-anticipated Gala Concert featuring African choral music, classical treasures, and contemporary works.
8 August 2025: Die schöne Müllerin
Schubert’s beloved Die schöne Müllerin features internationally recognised South African tenor Thomas Erlank and acclaimed pianist Tinus Botha, promising a night of heartfelt lieder performance.
13 August 2025: A Songmaker’s Journey
Soprano Marie Vassiliou, Professor of Voice at London’s Royal Academy of Music, and pianist Nicolene Gibbons take audiences through a programme that spans Germany, France, Italy, and the Americas.
15 August 2025: Stellenbosch University Choir
The SU Choir returns triumphantly, fresh from winning multiple gold medals at the 2024 World Choir Games in Denmark. Conducted by André van der Merwe, they promise an evening of vibrant and inspiring performances.
16 August 2025: Invitation to the Dance – SU / UCT Piano Exchange
This annual collaboration showcases dance-inspired piano works performed by students from Stellenbosch University and UCT’s South African College of Music piano divisions.
25 August 2025: South African Art Song
Opera UCT and the Stellenbosch University Vocal Division explore and celebrate South African Art Song, with pianist Prof Jeremy Silver in an engaging and culturally rich programme.
4 September 2025: USSO Youth Concerto Festival
Conducted by Rik Ghesquière, this concert features the Konservatorium’s finest student soloists in a showcase of young musical excellence.
8 September 2025: Met Apologie: Ter Nagedagtenis aan Roelof Temmingh
This concert honours the beloved South African composer Roelof Temmingh with performances by distinguished local musicians, including his son Roelof Temmingh Jnr on piano.
19 September 2025: Sonata for 7 Cities
Acclaimed Italian pianist Filippo Gorini delivers a stirring recital titled Sonata for 7 Cities, blending international artistry with expressive depth.
28 September 2025: Schola Cantorum: Mozart’s Coronation Mass
Schola Cantorum performs Mozart’s majestic Coronation Mass in what promises to be a spiritual and musical highlight of the season.
3 October 2025: Bridges of Sound: China meets South Africa
This international collaboration features clarinetist Junnan Sun and pianist José Dias, fusing Eastern and Western traditions in a unique and inspiring performance.
