Shadowclub played a kick-ass set at RAMFest 2023 in Pretoria a few weeks ago and I was one of the lucky ones to experience it and capture it with my trusted Canon EOS RP camera.
I can’t remember their whole set, but what I heard was absolutely pleasing to my rock-loving eardrums. They played a mixed bag of old and newish tracks and the crowd ate their performance up like “soetkoek”.
I’ve seen Shadowclub live tons of times and they’ve never disappointed me with a set…
My memory is a little blurry, but I vaguely remember the first time that I think I watched them perform. The year was 2011 and the venue was Arcade Empire in Pretoria.
I remember it being a rowwe show, but the multiple shots of Jager I had that night kinda messed up my memory of it. I do remember having a very good time though.
I’ve watched these boytjies grow into a legit band over the last 10-12 years and I’m hoping that they will be proudly flying the SA rock ‘n roll flag until they are deep into their 70s (just like the okes from AC/DC).
Check out the photo that I snapped of the band at RAMFest 2023 on the 2nd of September below:

More info about Shadowclub
The members of the band are Isaac Klawansky, Jacques Moolman and Louis Roux. Their genre of music can be described as Blues / Rock ‘n Roll. The band planned to record their debut album in just 12 days, but completed it in 9 (and that says a lot about their attitude to music).
Shadowclub‘s debut album (Guns and Money) was released in mid 2011. Their second album (Goodbye Wild Child) was released in 2013. The band released an EP in 2018 entitled Big Green Mamba Dream).
In case you did not know, RAMFest 2023 was held at Loftus Versveld in Pretoria on the D-Field. There are two events that are happening there in October 2023 that you should definitely check out. The first one is 20 jaar Van Vuur Speel (on the 7th of October) and Halloween 2023 (on the 27th of October 2023).
