Renowned artist Ross Learmonth has released his new single “Honey” along with an engaging music video. This emotional track began as a short composition but grew into a profound meditation on love, healing, and the intricacies of human feelings.
Ross Learmonth reveals the song’s creative journey: “Honey started as a very brief tune, barely a minute long. I nearly kept it that way, but with each listen, I felt the narrative yearning to expand. What began as a reflection on missed opportunities evolved into a deep exploration of love, recovery, and forgiveness. It also questions our motivations behind the actions we take that affect ourselves and our loved ones.”
The evolution of “Honey” from a simple idea to a fully-fleshed out piece showcases Learmonth’s artistic growth and his ability to craft music that resonates on a deeply personal level. Through this single, he invites listeners to reflect on their own experiences with love, loss, and the path to emotional healing.
“Honey” offers a deeply personal glimpse into the artist’s recent life experiences. “This song is incredibly close to my heart,” Ross explains. “It encapsulates my journey through recovery and confronting my own limitations and flaws over the past few years.”
The track’s emotional resonance is heightened by its carefully crafted soundscape, featuring gentle backing vocals and a powerful outro chorus, brought to life through collaboration with UK-based producers Chasing Fantasia.
Ross Learmonth hopes that “Honey” will resonate with listeners on a personal level, offering them a sense of hope and forgiveness
“At its core, it’s a love song,” he notes, “and I want people to create their own meanings and memories with it.”
The accompanying music video, directed by Ross’s partner Kirst Dalton, adds another layer of depth to the song. “Kirst wrote the screenplay, and she probably understands me better than I understand myself. I felt completely at ease with her directing,” Ross shares.
The video explores themes of self-forgiveness and understanding, with Ross adding, “I’m a fan of plot twists like in M. Night Shyamalan’s films, which partly inspired the video concept.” He credits the seamless production to the entire team, including cinematographers Dewan and Leon, who effectively brought the vision to life.
“Honey” represents a new chapter in Ross Learmonth’s artistic journey, blending heartfelt songwriting with an intimate, cinematic experience.
Ross Learmonth reflects on his creative approach: “I’ve always aimed to forge a connection with listeners through my writing. The goal is to create something authentic and relatable that transcends being just a song – it can serve as a beacon of hope or a timestamp for a memory. Ultimately, I strive to create music that truly resonates with people.”
