Pop duo Pop Royale, made up of Oshri and Perry Bancs, returns with their latest single, “More.” As their second release since forming Pop Royale, the track dives into the complex dynamics of relationships, highlighting the fear and hesitation that often accompany deeper connections.
Co-written by Craig Lucas, Caleb Williams, and Oshri, “More” captures the emotional push-and-pull between wanting to move forward and feeling held back, skillfully reflecting that tension in every line.
The song begins with the poignant lyric, “Painted flowers on the day that we met. I was young and I will always regret,” immediately introducing a narrative filled with longing and remorse. The chorus amplifies the central theme, portraying the struggle between yearning for more and being held back by fear.
Speaking about the songwriting process, Oshri recalls, “We wrote it during a writing camp in Cape Town. I had worked with everyone before except Craig Lucas. We had most of the song and concept ready, based on a personal story, but something was missing. We kept pushing until Craig suggested the line ‘More than I am ready for,’ and we all knew we had found the missing piece.”
More info about Pop Royale
Pop Royale came together through a chance encounter at a singer-songwriter convention in Los Angeles. What started as a casual collaboration quickly transformed into a serious project, fueled by their shared musical passion and undeniable chemistry.
Their unique mix of styles and contagious energy results in a sound that feels both familiar and refreshingly new, positioning them to leave a lasting mark on the music industry.
Oshri first gained recognition after winning the inaugural South African TRACE Music Stars competition, where he was mentored by Wyclef Jean.
His career took him to New York, where he collaborated with Wyclef and performed at the 2015 Trace Urban Music Awards in Paris. Oshri later signed with Akon’s label before going independent, eventually making his Billboard Top 40 Dance chart debut.
Perry, originally from downtown Manhattan, began playing guitar at age 12 and was featured in the New York Times at 15 after winning a guitar competition.
After attending Berklee College of Music, he relocated to Los Angeles. In 2016, The Chainsmokers remixed one of his tracks, which ultimately led to his serendipitous meeting with Oshri. Pop Royale was officially formed in April 2024.
“More” is now available on all streaming platforms. Be sure to check out this captivating and emotionally charged new release from one of pop’s most exciting rising acts.
