South Africa’s iconic satirical ska punk band, Half Price, returns with a bold statement in their latest release, “The Forgotten Future.” Featured on their EP Split Personalities, this track marks the band’s return to politically charged lyrics after an 18-year break and is paired with a visually striking music video shot at PROP ART in Cape Town.
Since their formation in 2001, Half Price has become a cornerstone of the South African punk scene, celebrated for their high-energy performances and biting satire.

Over their 23-year journey, the band has released six studio albums, a “best of” compilation with New York-based Punk Outlaw Records, and toured extensively across South Africa, Namibia, and Europe.
They’ve shared stages with international acts like Mad Caddies, The Exploited, Alien Ant Farm, and Culture Beat, while collaborating with local and global punk legends such as Fuzigish, Hog Hoggidy Hog, and Terrorgruppe.
“The Forgotten Future” addresses the grim reality of South Africa’s crumbling education system, highlighting the effects of unresolved inequalities and their lasting impact on upcoming generations.
The band explains: “When we started 23 years ago, there was hope for our country’s future. Today, that vision feels lost, especially within our broken education system. If we don’t act now, the next generation will face even deeper inequalities.”
The music video, filmed at PROP ART in Cape Town’s Oude Molen eco village, features a visually compelling performance that reinforces the song’s urgent message.
The band extends their thanks to everyone involved in making the video, with special appreciation to PROP ART for providing such a unique setting.
