South African pop band Monark are back with their brand-new single “Panorama” – their first release with a new lead vocalist.
Written by Johan and Ewald in their first-ever collaboration, the track came together organically, without pressure, just two creatives making something they both connected with.
A Fresh Chapter for Monark
This release marks an exciting new era for Monark, who burst onto the South African music scene in 2013. Since then, they’ve earned SAMA nominations for their debut album, hit the #1 spot on iTunes with the same record, performed on some of the country’s biggest stages including Rocking The Daisies and Joburg Day, and even collaborated with Riky Rick on Coke Studios.
The Sound of “Panorama”
Produced by Ewald, “Panorama” blends a nostalgic mix of old and new. The track draws on Swedish pop influences, early 2000s chart sounds, and what the band playfully call “a little bit of 90s boy band energy.”
“The lyrics were inspired by the everyday distractions we all face,” the band share. “It’s about looking past the noise and finding meaning in the things that really matter.”

What’s Next for Monark?
With this new single, fans can expect to hear (and see) more of Monark. They’re also set to perform live at Uncorked Wine Fest in Klerksdorp on 25 October, sharing the stage with Die Heuwels Fantasties and Glen Rozi.
