In response to explosive fan excitement on TikTok, platinum-selling and Canadian award-winning artist-songwriter Tebey has released a country rendition of The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” available now via Jayward Artist Group / The Orchard on all streaming platforms.
Tebey first recorded a short snippet of the song and posted it on social media. The immediate and overwhelmingly positive response prompted his team to push for a full studio version. The TikTok clip of Tebey’s take on “Blinding Lights” racked up over 12 million views in just one week.
The Weeknd Takes Notice
Tebey’s unique country twist on the record-breaking pop hit quickly spread worldwide, even catching the attention of The Weeknd himself.
The superstar shared the song on his own social media accounts and reposted Tebey’s video on TikTok.
The clip has since become the second most-viewed video on The Weeknd’s TikTok since January 2022 and his fifth most-viewed video ever.

Driven by the Fans
“It was never my intention to release a fully produced country version of ‘Blinding Lights’. This whole thing has been driven solely by the fans,” he explains. “Once I saw the reaction my version was getting online, my producer and I literally raced to finish the song and get it out to the streaming platforms within days.”
The cover was co-produced by Danick Dupelle (Tyler Joe Miller, Matt Lang) and Tebey, with Dupelle remarking, “This version turned out to be SO Tebey. It’s like it was meant to be.”
More Excitement Ahead
Fans can expect more buzz on social media, with multiple celebrities preparing to launch content using Tebey’s new version of “Blinding Lights.”
Canadian country radio programmers have already expressed interest in formally receiving the track. Radio servicing is being planned in parallel with his current single, “Hold Your Horses,” which is climbing the national country radio chart.

Peterborough, Ontario native and current Nashville resident Tebey is an award-winning artist, producer, and songwriter with over 100 million streams, 608,000 Canadian radio spins, and an audience of nearly one billion to date. As a recording artist, he has achieved four Top 5 Canadian country radio singles, five Top 10 singles, and five Top 20 singles.
His accomplishments as a songwriter include three #1 songs: Justin Moore’s US Billboard hit “Somebody Else Will,” Gord Bamford’s Canadian #1 “Dive Bar,” and his own Gold single “Who’s Gonna Love You,” which also earned a SOCAN award.
Recent and Upcoming Projects
In 2021, Tebey released his most successful album to date, The Good Ones, which spawned multiple Top 10 hits including the title track – a duet with Quebec pop star Marie Mai. That was followed by the Sink With The Sun EP in 2022.
Most recently, he released “Hold Your Horses” in January 2025, which continues to climb the charts. He has headlined two Canadian tours – The Good Ones Tour (2020) and the Shotgun Rider Tour (2022/2023) – and is set to headline a German tour in January 2025.
