South African singer-songwriter and producer Lee Cole is back with his latest release, “Mine” – a warm, guitar-driven track that strips love down to its purest form. Inspired by a spontaneous guitar riff, the single tells the story of two people on the edge of romance, with one daringly declaring: “Give me a chance, I could be good for you.”
“This song is about shooting your shot,” Lee explains. “It’s about being upfront with someone you feel a connection with – saying, if you give me a chance, I can be everything you want, because you’re everything I need. Love doesn’t always need to be complicated; sometimes honesty is all it takes.”
Keeping the production minimal and acoustic, Cole lets the emotion lead. “I could have taken it in so many directions, but I wanted it simple,” he says. “The real challenge was making sure the lyrics and vocals carried the weight of what I wanted to say.” The result is an intimate, radio-ready track that feels both timeless and refreshing.
Cole believes the release comes at just the right time: “The world right now could use more love and openness. ‘Mine’ isn’t about chasing trends – it’s just a feel-good, vibey song about connection.”
He likens the track’s atmosphere to a romantic comedy scene – two people laughing in a cosy apartment, enjoying the simplicity of being together.
Building on a Breakout Run
“Mine” follows a string of major milestones for Lee Cole. Earlier this year, he was crowned Best Male English Vocalist at the 2025 Afri-Indie Awards, while his single “ICE=CREAM” hit South Africa’s Top 40 airplay chart. His 2024 hit “Blind” racked up over 85 million listeners worldwide (Radiomonitor), cementing him as one of South Africa’s most compelling new voices.
Cole has also shared stages with global stars like Calum Scott and opened for Robbie Williams in Cape Town earlier this year, earning praise for his powerful vocals and emotional performances. His manager, Marco Gomes (founder of Prime Circle), describes Cole as an artist with real “X Factor.”
“Mine” is available now on all major streaming platforms, with more new music and live shows expected later this year.
