In case you missed it, Keanan Eksteen released his electrifying new single, “Got You Callin’,” on December 6, 2024. With a fresh, edgy vibe and a compelling backstory, the song is already turning heads.
Keanan Eksteen comments on “Got You Callin'”
“It all started one morning when ADV (our guitarist) sent me an instrumental track he’d made. I gave it a listen, was immediately hooked, and straight off the bat, I could hear in my head what the words should be and the melodies that should be sung. I finished writing that song all in that one day.”
“This song, to me, is without a doubt a straight-up sweaty, edgy club song. Something you listen to when you’re feeling good, looking good, and you want others to know it. You know that girl who’s playing hard to get? That guy who’s buying everyone a round? “Got You Callin'” would be their soundtrack.”
“It’s a rock song, it’s sexy, it’s got attitude. I had just finished recording “Myself” and was looking to explore the heavier route, more upbeat and energetic stuff, and this came at the perfect time.”
“Usually, I write my own stuff; it’s a very personal game. But when ADV sent me this and Jeremy Farber (my producer) heard what I had put on top of his instrumental, vocally, we decided to take this to the next level.”
“Now, “Got You Callin'” belongs to the world. It’s out. Easy to sing, easy to remember, and I feel that it absolutely pumps.”
ADV comments on the Instrumental Process
“When I initially wrote the instrumental, it had a different intro, causing it to be in a different key than the version that is out today. I sent the demo to Keanan, and he immediately had a vocal to go with it—only to realize he heard it in a different key.”
“I re-wrote the intro to fit his vocal melody, which I’ve never done before. I always write the instrumental first and then lyrics with melody afterward. It’s also one of those songs that came together really quickly.”
“Having Keanan in your corner makes things so much easier because that man generates words and melodies quicker than anyone I’ve ever worked with.”
Producer Jeremy Farber comments on the track
“I first heard the song about a year ago. It was just a demo, but since it was made by ADV, it was already a pretty solid demo. I could get a clear idea of where it could go from the beginning.”
“The song has a different feel to most of the other tracks we’ve published under Keanan Eksteen’s catalog, but I enjoy it when bands try new things from time to time. Knowing the energy of the band live, I thought this one might be a great addition to the setlist for the energetic club audiences.”
“We tracked the song at For Tomorrow Studios in one day. I added some strings and a few elements to thicken up the chorus, and it was done. I look forward to seeing the band play this one live!”
