Following the release of four captivating and deeply affecting singles, emerging artist Jeannie Arnott’s debut album Impala Lily is now out.
A beautiful blend of elements of folk, indie and acoustic music, Impala Lily is the sound of an artist with a true ability to encapsulate the essence of what it is to be human through touching on the various emotional journeys that people encounter in their lifetime.
The EP’s title is inspired by the UK-based, South African-born artist’s deep connection to the African bushveld, a place where she spent a lot of time since early childhood.
Jeannie Arnott comments on her debut EP
“I named my EP Impala Lily because of my love for the African bushveld, having been frequently exposed to the untouched savanna and desert lands of Southern Africa from toddlerhood.”
“Once the bushveld touches you, it stirs your soul to such an extent that it never leaves you. These rich experiences have shaped who I am today and have influenced the music I create.”
“Impala lilies look like delicate, soft flowers that wouldn’t typically survive in Africa with all its fiery wildness, yet they do. For me, they symbolise polarity of being, and intimacy with all of life; both the harshness and gentleness.”
“I hope that my EP expresses what it means to be human in many of the emotional journeys that one may experience in their life; suffering, loss, hope, hardship, courage, joy, freedom and pure love.”
