South Africa’s newest pop sensation, Eva Marie, makes a bold entrance into the music world with her debut single, “Hate You”.
A heartfelt exploration of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery, the track captures the universal struggle of moving on when emotions still linger.
“This song is for anyone who’s ever wanted to hate someone but couldn’t because the love was still so real,” Eva Marie shares. “It’s about those moments of being caught between heartbreak and hope. I wanted to create something that helps people feel seen in their pain.”
Produced by Devon Murray and Aidin Nortje of “We Could Be Related”—the team behind Ben Rodrigues’ viral hit “Was It Real”—the single combines raw emotion with a pop beat that’s impossible not to sing along to.
“We discovered Eva on social media,” says Devon. “Her vocal covers stood out, and we immediately wanted to collaborate. From the first session, it was clear we had great chemistry, and the writing process flowed effortlessly.”
Drawing inspiration from Adele, Tate McRae, and Sia, Eva’s music blends vivid storytelling with a modern pop edge, creating a sound she describes as “gritty, emotional, and irresistibly catchy.”

Hailing from Cape Town, Eva Marie’s creative journey has been years in the making. A multi-talented performer with experience in acting, dancing, and singing, she competed at the prestigious iPOP talent convention in Los Angeles earlier this year, earning top honors in both singing and acting. Her passion for music, rooted in childhood, became a source of comfort during tough times.
“Music was my escape and my solace,” Eva reflects. “Even in my darkest moments, it reminded me I wasn’t alone. With “‘Hate You'”, I hope to offer that same connection to others.”
“Hate You” sets the stage for Eva Marie’s blossoming career, with an EP planned for release in 2025 and a follow-up single already in progress for early 2025. “This is just the beginning,” Eva teases. “I’m thrilled to share more of my story and can’t wait to connect with listeners around the world.”
