Earlier in the week, Dirty Moonshine released a music video for their single, “Shake the Roof”. The song is take off Bottom of the Barrel (their debut album which released at the end of July).
Dripping with sweat, and smelling of booze, Dirty Moonshine is everything your mother told you to avoid. Rumbling and thundering from the Gauteng highveld, Dirty Moonshine sets the South African music scene ablaze with their whiskey-swilling, cigarette-toting, blues-swinging, rock ‘n roll.
Director Nathan Ferreira from Snapback Photography comments on working with the band
“It’s always a pleasure working with Dirty Moonshine and this time was no different. It was an easy shoot with the guys as they did what they do best. As usual their performance was full of energy so there was never a need to reshoot. The location was fantastic. Roxanne’s Rum Eatery is a unique location with large murals, neon lighting and decor to tie it all together. Thank you to the guys from Dirty Moonshine and Jo from Roxanne’s Rum Eatery for making this happen!”
Drummer Wez Creeper adds “Shake the roof, much like the rest of our songs is about wild times with even wilder women. This song oozes the feeling of pure sexual energy and essentially bringing down the house with your insatiable passion.”

I have to admit that the video definitely compliments the awesomeness of the rocking tune that is “Shake The Roof”. It’s great to be reminded that rock ‘n roll is not dead in South Africa. Keepin’ it real ek sê!
Reminiscent of hot days, boozy nights, and dusty shoes, Dirty Moonshine has taken their own unique brand of rock’ n roll across the country, with a view to turn every single venue upside down.
Four members with experience old enough that it could legally order its own scotch, the band has forged its own inimitable sound within an otherwise decaying market. So, if you like some grit in your music, and dust in your soul, follow the thud of the bass to find Dirty Moonshine on a stage near you.
