Die Heuwels Fantasties are back. Their new single “Doodgewone Aand” (directly translated as “Dead Normal Evening”) was released on the soundtrack for upcoming movie Bakgat 2 on the 25th of August 2010. They are currently working on their second album which is expected to be released before the end of this year and is probably one of the most anticipated albums of 2010 in South Africa.
It seems that the Afrikaans Electronic sensation was not a 1 hit wonder. These guys are serious musicians. I’m probably one of the biggest Die Heuwels Fantasties fans around. I’ve only seen them live 3 times though. The Bakgat 2 soundtrack also features songs by Straatligkinders, Ef-El, Jax Panik, Glaskas and Gazelle. The CD is available online at Kalahari.net and Looks & Listen.
Like most of the people at Oppikoppi Sexy. Crooked. Teeth. I was a bit disappointed with their performance there. I’m sure that there’s a reasonable explanation behind that though (and I’ve accepted the group’s apology on Facebook regarding this matter).
Die Heuwels Fantasties will be performing at Cool Runnings in Fourways, Johannesburg on the 16th of September, at Pablo’s in Potchefstroom on the 17th of September and at Hatfield Square in Pretoria on the 18th of September 2010 (all as part of Vanfokkingtasties). Get your butt to the gig nearest to you and support South African music. Vanfokkingtasties is definately on my list of things to do in September 2010.
