Craig Lucas makes a powerful comeback with “Love You for the Last Time,” a shimmering throwback to 80s Euro-pop infused with modern emotional intensity. Released through top local indie label TIC TIC BANG, the track marks the fourth single from his highly anticipated upcoming EP, TIP OF MY TONGUE.
A Sequel to “Falling in Love”
Following the success of his previous hit single “Falling in Love,” Craig Lucas shares what he describes as a sequel—a continuation of a story that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable. “Love You for the Last Time” dives into the bittersweet intoxication of longing for something—or someone—you know you should let go.
“It’s about the same guy,” Craig reveals. “After we reconnected, I fell for him all over again—even though I knew it was a bad idea. When things started to fizzle out, I just wanted one more moment, one more kiss. It’s about that ache, that desperate need to feel something again, even when it hurts.”
Crafting the Sound: Storytelling Meets Cinematic Emotion
Written and produced alongside longtime collaborator Jono Greyling in Hout Bay, “Love You for the Last Time” blends intimate storytelling with explosive emotion. Special attention was given to the soaring chorus and the emotionally raw bridge—a freestyle vocal take captured in a single, unfiltered moment of vulnerability.
Musically, the track is a cinematic fusion of pounding drums, layered synths, and heartfelt vocals. It’s designed to be a slow-dance anthem for broken hearts, delivering both nostalgia and emotional catharsis.
“It’s got that nostalgic prom-night feel,” Craig Lucas explains. “It’s dramatic, emotional—basically the perfect crying-in-the-club anthem.”
A Bold Step Forward in Craig Lucas’ Artistic Journey
“Love You for the Last Time” is the latest milestone in Craig’s ongoing creative evolution, one shaped by vulnerability, honesty, and his signature vocal intensity.
Since rising to fame as the winner of The Voice South Africa in 2017, Craig Lucas has carved out a bold space in the pop landscape, earning acclaim for his emotionally charged lyrics and powerful voice.
