Cape Town’s pop provocateur Craig Lucas is back in the spotlight with his explosive new single, “High, Drunk & Horny.” The track was released on 20 September 2024 via Tic Tic Bang.
This electrifying track blends infectious pop melodies with driving rock guitars, showcasing Craig’s signature vocals, now more daring and playful than ever. It’s a high-energy anthem that dives into the chaos and freedom of youth, celebrating both the mistakes and the humor we find along the way.
Though the title may turn heads, “High, Drunk & Horny” is a bold, unapologetic celebration of youthful recklessness.
Reflecting on the track, Craig says, “The lyrics might seem unexpected considering my openness about my struggles with addiction, but that’s exactly why this song is meaningful to me. I write from personal experiences, and this one is no exception. Let’s just say I had plenty of inspiration to draw from!”
Craig adds, “This song is for anyone who’s lived on the edge—whether you’re living it now or just reminiscing. It’s about letting loose and having a great time.” He goes on to admit, “This is a track I wouldn’t have dared to release earlier in my career, especially after winning The Voice South Africa. But now, it feels raw, fun, and authentically me. It’s a little cheeky, very bold, and a real reflection of where I am as an artist.”
With “High, Drunk & Horny,” Craig embarks on an exciting new chapter, marking a bold evolution in his musical journey. This track represents a fearless embrace of his true self, both in the studio and on stage, where he now enjoys full creative freedom as an independent artist.
The creation of the song was a collaborative effort, starting when Craig wrote the chorus at home on the piano. It gained momentum with input from his friends and collaborators, including Jethro Tait, who contributed the main guitar riff, and Jonathan Greyling, who co-wrote the second verse and produced the track.

More info about Craig Lucas
Hailing from Clarke Estate in Cape Town’s Cape Flats, Craig Lucas has risen from modest beginnings to become a chart-topping sensation. His breakthrough came in 2017 when he won a reality singing competition, launching his debut single, “I Said This,” to #1 on iTunes.
His album RESTLESS earned a SAMA nomination for Best Pop Album, and hits like “Smother,” “Hearts Exposed,” “Antisociable,” and “Happy” achieved gold status, with his music amassing over 10 million streams.
Behind his success, however, Craig faced personal challenges, including grappling with his sexuality and mental health, leading to a break from music and a battle with addiction. Now, over two years sober and fully embracing his queer identity, Craig is back, making music for misfits, dreamers, and non-conformists.
Currently working on his most personal album to date, Craig Lucas promises a pop-rock roller coaster packed with electric guitars, pounding drums, and his signature powerhouse vocals. Tackling themes of depression, substance abuse, and his knack for falling for the wrong people, the album is therapy you can dance to.
Now independent and unstoppable, Craig Lucas’ passion for music shines through. He’s here to have fun, make great music, spend a lot of money, and maybe even find a sugar daddy to keep the party going. After all, as Cyndi Lauper famously said, “Gays just wanna have fun!”
