In February 2024, Callum Stoltz released “The One That I Love”, his debut radio single. Falling in love for the first time can often be a very emotional experience. One that inspired the talented and versatile singer-songwriter’s very first radio single.
Written by the young artist himself, “The One That I Love” can be described as a heartfelt pop song that explores the emotions associated with falling in love for the first time and expresses the powerful feelings and experiences that accompany such a momentous occasion.
Callum Stoltz shares the inspiration behind the song
“The song reflects on the journey through those initial moments of excitement, joy, and vulnerability that come with discovering a deep connection with someone special. It is a feel-good track with a melody that captures the essence of being in love.”
In addition to marking a significant milestone in his budding career, “The One That I Love” also holds a special place in Callum’s heart, as it was written for his first love.
The authenticity of the lyrics and the genuine emotion infused into the composition make it a compelling and relatable piece for listeners of all ages.
Great news is that Callum has released a video for the song. Directed by the visionary videographer and musician Gerduan Kemp, known for his prowess in storytelling through music videos, the video takes viewers on a journey into the heart of an underground party where teens and young adults secretly meet to have a good time and dance the night away.
Shot in a clandestine setting – a functional shopfitting workshop in Pretoria – the video’s industrial ambiance adds a gritty authenticity to this secretive affair.
Callum Stolz comments on the video
“We wanted to capture the essence of being young and carefree, as well as the thrill of forbidden fun. Gerduan, who was assisted by fellow musician Abel Knobel, and I brainstormed ideas, and the concept evolved organically from there. The venue, with its secretive allure, became integral to the narrative we wanted to convey.”
“What makes it special is that everyone in the video is someone I know or a friend of a friend,” he explains. “It was more than just a shoot; it was a gathering of friends coming together to create something unforgettable.”

In his free time, he enjoys listening to artists such as SILK, Fred Again, JVKE, Lewis Capaldi, Ed Sheeran and David Kushner. He also has great admiration for his vocal coach Ivan Roux who has had a significant influence on his musical journey and with whom, among others, he would love to collaborate with someday.
As he is excitedly entering the music scene with a fresh and genuine perspective, the singer is working on multiple projects, with his next endeavour being another love song, this time with a slower pace.
Looking ahead to 2024, he envisions a successful journey for his debut single and hopes that it will be well-received and allow him the opportunity to showcase his talent at events across the country.
