South African pop artist Britney Meistre celebrates her birthday today with the release of her most intimate single yet, “Rescue”, out now across all digital streaming platforms.

“Rescue” also marks the beginning of a new chapter, as Britney announces the upcoming release of her debut EP 25, available to pre-save today and officially out on Friday, 5 September 2025.

“Rescue” is a soaring, soul-stirring love song about finding home in another human being with a connection so profound it feels destined. Filled with raw honesty and tender lyricism, Britney reflects on the moment love becomes more than just a feeling – it becomes your anchor, your lifeline, your rescue.

“There’s a place inside my brain / Where you living rent free…”

Opening with this striking line, “Rescue” explores the kind of bond where emotional safety, joy, and spiritual alignment meet. More than a traditional love song, it’s about vulnerability, healing, and the deep comfort of being truly seen and accepted.

“Rescue celebrates the kind of love that’s rare, real, and life-changing,” Britney shares. “It’s a reminder that sometimes, the person you didn’t even know you needed turns out to be your everything.”

“Rescue” was written and produced alongside Lee Cole, a close friend and long-time collaborator.
“I absolutely love creating music with him, our creative and production flow just clicks,” Britney says. “Working together is always such a seamless and inspiring experience.”

The single also sees Jazzworx playing a pivotal role in its final polish, with Robin Kohl handling the Dolby Atmos mix and contributing to the engineering.

“I feel incredibly privileged to have had the opportunity to work with the Jazzworx team. Their talent and professionalism are truly next level.”

And that collaboration continues. Britney’s forthcoming EP 25 — set for release on 5 September — was crafted in partnership with Jazzworx and showcases four tracks that span genres from country-inspired storytelling to dance, house, and pure pop.

“I’m so excited to finally release it!” Britney shares. “The first single, ‘Rescue,’ offers a sneak peek of what’s to come and sets the tone for the rest of the EP. ‘Rescue’ is my pre-save to the EP. I titled the EP ‘25’ because I’m releasing ‘Rescue’ on my birthday, August 20th — the day I turn 25.”

Robin Kohl, Owner and Director of Jazzworx, adds: “Britney Meistre’s ‘25’ is a triumph rarely witnessed. She weaves an effortless vocal picture of her own brand of pop with singer-songwriter undertones and a touch of country. Her co-writers and producer have created something exceptional, with Britney steering her musical direction to a destination I can’t wait to see unfold.”

    More info about Britney Meistre

South Africa was first introduced to Britney Meistre when she dropped her debut single “Where Are You Now?” in 2021, produced by none other than Lee Cole. A chart-friendly release that spotlighted Britney’s pristine vocals and honest songwriting, the song launched her as a rising force in local pop.

“Producing comes so naturally to him and he’s incredibly gifted at all things music,” Britney reflects on Lee. “It was such a blessing to work with someone I admire so deeply, and that experience gave me the confidence to fully step into my artistry.”

Born and raised in the south of Johannesburg, Britney’s musical passion was evident from the age of three. A mic in hand and a keyboard at her fingertips, she spent her teenage years singing wherever she could. At just 16, she made it to the Top 16 on Idols SA with a defining moment that fuelled her musical dreams even further.

In 2022, she took her talent global. Britney travelled to Hollywood, California, to record her second single, “By My Side”, after being scouted by Onkey and Indasoul Records. Recorded in Los Angeles, the track added an international polish to her sound and was paired with a beautifully vintage-inspired music video shot locally by Dream Media.

Her 2023 release, “What About Us”, once again saw her working with her L.A.-based production team. The result? A beat-driven, emotionally rich track that explored insecurity and connection in equal measure — solidifying Britney as a confident songwriter with global appeal.

Now, with “Rescue” and her upcoming EP 25, Britney Meistre opens her heart like never before — delivering vulnerable, emotionally intelligent music that captures the beauty of love, growth, and self-discovery.
