Born in the Eastern Cape, raised in Johannesburg, and now based in Los Angeles, singer-songwriter Apples is making a powerful statement this Women’s Month with the release of her brand-new single, “Magic.”
Hypnotic and emotionally charged, “Magic” is both a reflection of her artistry and a testament to her journey -from local roots to a global stage.
“My creativity, strength, and confidence were born in Johannesburg,” she says. “That city shaped the woman and artist I am today, and no matter how far I go, I carry it with me.”
Co-written with Marc Williams and produced by Indasoul Entertainment, “Magic” is cinematic yet deeply personal, exploring the chaotic beauty of falling for someone you know isn’t right – but whose presence is impossible to resist. Apples fully embraces that emotional tension, pairing lush, polished production with raw vulnerability.
“‘Magic’ is about owning your vulnerability – about loving without caution, even when it hurts,” she explains. “It’s about trusting your feelings, and sometimes, that’s the real risk.”
While her debut single “Hamba Nawe” celebrated her South African heritage and Afropop roots, “Magic” unveils a different side of her sound – sleek, pop-forward, and globally aligned. At its core, however, remains the unmistakable spirit of a Joburg girl with the courage to dream bigger.
