Following the success of their debut EP, A Million Ways To Die, the collaborative project between Rob Mc Lennan and Dave De Vetta makes a powerful return with their second release, What Lies Beneath, out now via Mongrel Records.
Rekindling Creative Chemistry Across Continents
Rob and Dave—both founding members of the legendary South African band No Friends of Harry—have reignited their musical partnership despite living on opposite sides of the globe.
With Rob in Johannesburg and Dave in Edinburgh, the duo embraced remote collaboration, using modern technology to compose, record, and produce music from their respective home studios.
Their weekly Zoom sessions, often accompanied by a bottle of tequila, became the heart of their creative process—blending nostalgia, spontaneity, and innovation into a sound that’s both fresh and grounded in their roots.
A Full-Length Album in the Works
Building on the momentum of their debut EP, A Million Ways To Die is currently working on a full-length album, featuring eight new tracks. The project launched with the haunting first single, “A Cautionary Tale”, which features the remarkable vocal talents of Bronwyn Fink.

“Pretty Life” and Its Visuals Hit Home
The latest single, “Pretty Life”, takes the spotlight with an emotionally charged music video. The video’s cinematography is helmed by Luke Johnstone, a rising creative force known for his ability to capture the gritty, unfiltered spirit of Johannesburg’s underground culture.
Johnstone’s visual storytelling adds depth to the narrative of “Pretty Life”, aligning seamlessly with the themes explored throughout the upcoming album.
A Million Ways To Die Blends Storytelling and Sonic Innovation
With What Lies Beneath, A Million Ways To Die continues to push musical boundaries—merging decades of experience with the raw power of modern production and storytelling. This new body of work highlights the duo’s ability to evolve while maintaining authenticity and emotional resonance.
Stay tuned for more music, videos, and surprises as the album rollout continues.
