After a streak of chart-topping success, Woodblock DJz are back to light up the streets with their latest release, “Stivovo” – a high-energy Kwaito anthem that’s already driving a viral dance craze across social media.
The track features Mzukwase and the ever-reliable collaborators Abafana be Skuta, whose synergy with the duo continues to create fireworks.
Woodblock DJz have been vocal about their mission to revive and reimagine the classic Kwaito sound – and with “Stivovo”, they’ve delivered just that.
The song is a gritty, nostalgic nod to the golden era of Kwaito, packed with raw energy and unmistakable South African street culture. It’s an unapologetic celebration of the genre’s roots, reinterpreted with a bold, modern edge.
This latest release adds to what’s becoming a monumental year for the duo. Their remix of “Skuta Baba” recently reached double platinum status, becoming a cultural juggernaut across clubs, taxis, and online platforms.
Their success was further recognized with a win at the Metro FM Music Awards, proving that their impact extends far beyond social media virality – they’re shaping the future of South African music.
Known for their daring collaborations, Woodblock DJz have worked alongside some of the industry’s biggest names, including Cassper Nyovest, Kwesta, and Buzzi Lee.
Their genre-blending style, all while maintaining their unique Woodblock sound, has earned them widespread respect and admiration as forward-thinking producers.
