Inspired by the magic of finding that one special person in your life, “Kick It” lyrically celebrates the soulmate who transforms ordinary moments into extraordinary memories. Lead vocalist, Ian Heyns, shares, “It’s about that one special person/soulmate in your life, the one person you can share your silly, shy, wild, intense sides with. The one person that makes the ordinary mundane moments, extraordinary.”
Recorded at the renowned Cosher Studios, nestled at the foot of Table Mountain, Sunset Sweatshop collaborated with producers Ben and Colin to bring the single to life. The creative process flowed effortlessly, with the band starting with acoustic jams to set the mood before crafting the perfect beat. Dane Taylor, who also co-produced and mixed the track while residing in China, added his magic touch to the final product.
“Kick It” marks a departure from Sunset Sweatshop‘s usual radio-friendly sound, showcasing the band’s willingness to push boundaries and explore diverse genres. “We love to be bold, to step out of our comfort zone and show our fans that we really love making a diverse genre of music. We are growing and we are evolving,” says Ian.
With themes of cherishing life’s simple pleasures and enjoying them with loved ones, “Kick It” is more than just a song; it’s a reminder to embrace the moment and create lasting memories.
Since their explosive debut single “Move It”, Sunset Sweatshop has been on an upward trajectory, garnering over 8 million accumulative streams across their discography, embarking on multiple national tours, and solidifying their place as a powerhouse in the South African music scene.
