Sextape, the rising star in Johannesburg’s alternative rock scene, announce the release of their latest single, “Passé”, the second track from their debut EP, Concrete Funerals.
With “Passé,” the band unveils a raw and heartfelt exploration of love and loss, showcasing a new depth and vulnerability in their sound.
The song delves into themes of introspection and emotional authenticity, shedding the hardened exterior of post-punk to reveal something more tender and sincere.
Lucy Crowley (from Sextape) describes “Passé” as a reflection of the band’s evolution
“It’s like we’ve spent years being passionate and opinionated, and we’ve transmuted that energy into our music. This song is almost the obituary or funeral for youthful idealism in the face of the great capitalist machine. All in the form of a love song, haha.”
“This single is our favorite and a signifier of things to come. It represents our growth as artists and our commitment to exploring new territories within our sound.”
Sextape has also recently released a live video featuring an unreleased track titled “Roman Fire,” recorded live at Motel Studios. Check it out below…
You can stream / download the track HERE.
