South African duo Rock The Boat have unveiled their long-awaited debut album Keeps Me Breathing through Just Music – a heartfelt fusion of country warmth, pop sophistication, and classic rock flair.
Rock The Boat: A Partnership Built on Harmony and Storytelling
Formed by Wendy Niehaus and Stewart Irving, Rock The Boat brings together two seasoned musicians whose shared love for melody and storytelling forms the backbone of their sound.

The album glides effortlessly between Americana-tinged ballads and vibrant pop-rock anthems, all held together by the duo’s unmistakable chemistry.
“Keeps Me Breathing is the result of years of performing, writing, and learning to trust ourselves creatively,” says Niehaus. “It’s about connection, resilience, and remembering what keeps you going.”
Stewart Irving: From Scotland to the South African Stage
Originally from Scotland, Stewart Irving’s career began when he signed with EMI Records at 23, touring across Europe and the UK before finding a home in South Africa. He’s since become a familiar name in the local music scene, performing with legendary acts like Ballyhoo, Alter-Irving, and The Reckoning.
Beyond the stage, Irving has also made his mark in television production, contributing to major shows such as Top Billing and Toyota Top 20.
Wendy Niehaus: A Powerful Voice with Stage Presence
Wendy Niehaus has fronted several bands – Crystal December, Gasoline, and Sounds Like Thunder – and performed in acclaimed stage productions including ABBA, A Beatles Tribute, and A Cliff Richard Show.
In recent years, she’s focused on developing her craft as a songwriter and solo artist – experience that shines throughout Keeps Me Breathing.
A Shared Vision for Authentic Music
“Rock The Boat was born from a shared desire to make music that feels real – songs that speak to people and bring them together,” says Irving.
With Keeps Me Breathing, Rock The Boat make a confident debut that bridges experience and authenticity, proving that strong songwriting and heartfelt collaboration never lose their power.
