Amancia makes a soulful and poetic entrance into the music scene with her debut single, “Breathing in Water.” Written in 2012 at the age of 17, the song reflects the innocent, dreamlike notions of love that a young girl once imagined.

Her musical journey began in DJ Ikz’s studio, where she met fellow vocalist Reuben. That day, her passion for music was ignited as she quickly penned “Breathing in Water” in just an hour. After holding the song close to her heart for 12 years, Amancia has now chosen it as the perfect track to launch her professional career.
The single tells the story of a girl whose love feels as unattainable as breathing underwater. “It was a metaphor for how impossible love felt for me at that age,” Amancia shares.
The song’s structure is distinct, alternating between male and female perspectives to create an idealized courtship that played out in her mind.
For the final version, Amancia collaborated closely with producer Luca Dimoon, who brought her new vision to life. He preserved the original lyrics while adding soulful, captivating melodies, giving the song its rich and emotive feel.
A self-proclaimed “poet at heart,” Amancia has been writing since she was 13, with her songs reflecting vulnerability and authenticity. Each song, like “Breathing in Water,” is crafted to evoke emotions and paint vivid pictures, allowing listeners to step into her world.
Though this single marks her official debut, music has been a constant in Amancia’s life. Growing up in South Africa, she began singing in church at the age of three, forming a group with her cousins and sisters called Acapella Vivid Souls.
She performed on various stages over the years but is now ready to embark on her own journey. Despite life’s challenges, her passion for music never faded. “Music has always been something that gave me purpose,” Amancia says.
Now, she’s ready to share her voice with the world.
