Pixie Whip Releases New Single: “For A Moment”

Cape Town-based musician, producer, and sound engineer Pixie Whip makes a heartfelt return with her brand-new single “For a Moment,” a track that captures the tension, beauty, and uncertainty of modern life. “For a Moment” reflects the confusion and fear many people are feeling in today’s world.

“This song is an expression of the confusion and fear I’ve felt recently towards the world and what our future looks like as a collective,” Pixie Whip explains. “It’s about trying to come back to the present as a remedy for thinking too far into the future – finding reason amongst the chaos to still appreciate life and the experience of being alive.”

Written and recorded in her home studio, the song emerged during a period of deep introspection and creative renewal. The lyrics strike a balance between clarity and emotion, weaving together vulnerability and hope in a way that listeners can easily connect with.

A Genre-Bending Sound That Feels Alive

Musically, “For a Moment” blends soulful R&B-inspired verses with a disco-infused chorus, reflecting life’s cyclical highs and lows.

“It started with the bass guitar sample in the verses, then I paired it with laid-back drums. The song slowly builds until the sub bass kicks in at the pre-chorus, giving way to an ’80s disco-inspired chorus,” says Pixie Whip.

The track’s evolution mirrors the emotional journey it describes – rising, falling, and finding rhythm again. Happy accidents, like the “Be Alive” and “Makes Me Wanna” vocal chops, add layers of organised chaos to the final production, creating a sound that’s both cathartic and electrifying.

    Closing Out a Breakthrough Year

“For a Moment” follows a landmark year for Pixie Whip, who has been performing regularly while promoting her debut EP Mood Butterfly.

She describes this single as a milestone in both her sound and her self-expression: “I feel very grounded and confident in my production and writing.

This song reflects years of playing with genres and also speaks to a very relatable subject. It’s the perfect way to end off a year that has been creatively rich and personally transformative.”
