South African Afro-soul singer Nhoza and internationally renowned producer Rich Gee have joined forces on “Andiyazi” – a spiritually rich, genre-blending anthem that is captivating audiences across borders.

Rooted in isiXhosa, the track draws from South Africa’s deep oral traditions, offering an emotionally charged listening experience that speaks to both heritage and global sound.

Since its release, “Andiyazi” has surpassed 10,000 daily streams on Spotify, gaining momentum in South Africa, Europe, and the United States. The track has also received strong support from community radio stations, particularly in regions where storytelling in a native Nguni language resonates deeply with local audiences.

The song’s title, “Andiyazi”- meaning I don’t know in isiXhosa – carries themes of vulnerability, ancestral trust, and spiritual guidance. Nhoza’s raw, powerful vocals are layered over Rich Gee’s textured Afro-fusion production, creating a sound that is both timeless and boundary-breaking.

“This is more than a collaboration—it’s a soul offering,” says Nhoza. “I’m telling my story in my mother tongue, with the intention of honouring my roots while reaching hearts around the world.”

Rich Gee, whose production credits include BB King, Marlena Shaw, and Rakim, as well as recent projects like The Chess Project, brings decades of global experience to the track. His ability to blend electronic soundscapes with African musicality gives the song an emotional depth while maintaining cultural authenticity.

“The beauty of ‘Andiyazi’ is that it doesn’t translate in just one way – it’s spiritual, musical, and rooted,” says Rich Gee. “Working with Nhoza brought that magic to life.”

The official music video, directed by Rich Gee, visually captures the song’s essence with striking imagery reflecting rural South African identity and spiritual symbolism.

Affectionately known as Unolali (The Village Girl), Nhoza was raised in Knox Village before immersing herself in the musical culture of Cape Town’s Langa Township.

She began her career performing alongside acclaimed live bands such as Freshlyground, 340ml, and The Rudimentals. With “Andiyazi,” Nhoza steps into a bold new solo chapter, using her voice and mother tongue to connect generations.
